The Manitoba Eco-Network:
The Manitoba Eco-Network is a non-partison ENGO with a mission: to support and assist its many member organizations. The Manitoba Eco-Network has over 50 member groups and businesses, many of which utilize the organization's website on a regular basis. It is a go-to source for information on environmental jobs, funding sources for eco-projects, organic lawn care resources, local activism, graphic information systems, and more.
The website that we produced was very well received, not only by the Manitoba Eco-Network, but also by their numerous associates and members who depend on the website for support and information. The usability was greatly improved, with state-of-the-art search functionality, and well laid out dropdown menus and link navigation to help visitors find the content they are looking for. Additionally, the 'Q & A' functionality was a highlight of the design. It allows visitors to ask the webmasters a question regarding the environment, and view the answer when it is posted on the website.
The Manitoba Environmental Youth Network:
The Manitoba Environmental Youth Network is an online and offline meeting place for environmentally concerned young people in Manitoba. The design needed to appeal to young people, typically in the ages of 14 - 25. The website is a fully-functional social network, complete with integrated 'groups' features, a calendar/events system (with invitations and RSVPs), individual member blogs, and news feeds.
The Manitoba Environmental Youth Network is a project of The Manitoba Eco-Network. Before Ethical Web Design created the website, the Youth Network was in its formative stages, and only had approximately 5 members. Within less than 6 months of the website being launched, well-over 100 members had joined the network. The vast majority of these new members were introduced to the project through the website.
The Sustainable Development Committee is a high school initiative at Vincent Massey Collegiate. The group has succeeded in installing a small-scale (approximately 30 feet tall) wind turbine on the roof of their school. The wind turbine generates electricity, which powers approximately 39 computers.
The group has received some media attention for their efforts, and thus they wanted to create a web presence. They turned to Ethical Web Design, and we created a dynamic flash website at no cost to them. Ethical Web Design also arranged complimentary web hosting for the committee, and trained them on how to update it.
